[edit] Biography
[edit] Early Life
Wallace was born in Los Angeles, California to Makayla (Vreeland) and Andre Wallace Sr. Shortly after his birth, his father was gunned down in a shootout in Compton, leaving Makayla and Andre alone. As a child growing up in the 1990s, Wallace was interested in hip hop from a young age. Makayla had high hope for his son, determined to make him the new Compton Legend. The hope paid dividends as Andre bought Makayla a house in Malibu on her 38th birthday.
[edit] Trouble
As a teenager, Wallace looked up to the now deceased Stanley "Tookie" Williams, Eazy-E, Biggie Smalls, 2Pac, Soulja Slim, Big L, Pimp C, Roger Troutman, and Proof of D12 as role models. He also became fascinated by the East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry at the time. Because he was one of the few multiracial kids that lived in an African American neighborhood and a more accomplished student academically, he was frequently beaten up until he and his friends proclaimed themselves members of Rollin 60 Neighborhood Crips reppin tha street of muthaphukkin Compton. He was arrested at the age of thirteen for shoplifting. He was later accused of "maiming-by-mob" along with his cousin six years later in an altercation outside of The 40/40 Club while vising New York City. No charges was pressed.
[edit] Education
He played football at Dominguez High School. He went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in Latin American studies.
Wallace was a freshmen walk-on to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill varsity football team under then-coach John Bunting but he got little playing time and abandoned the game by his sophomore year.
He is currently attending University of Southern California Law School
[edit] Political Activism
[edit] Ideology
Wallace is well known for his political activism in his college days. He is an ardent supporter of the GOP and fellow Compton native, President George W. Bush. Strongly opposed to communism, he gained attention for drawing parallel between the Communist Party and the Nazi Party, noting that ideology aside, they are both threats to the freedom and prosperity of mankind. He strongly supports gender equality and abortion, citing his mother as the strongest influence on these issues. He is against gay marriage.
[edit] China=shame
Wallace also sympathizes with Taiwanese nationalists and the ideas of George H. Kerr, partly because of his ethnic background. As a result, he strongly despises China's attempt to invade and annex the Republic of Taiwan, which should be the proper name that represents the majority of Taiwanese population. However, he is also disappointed at the eight year reign of the Democratic Progressive Party and President Chen Shui-Bian. His critics have accused him of practicing Taiwanese chauvinism and advocating anti-Chinese sentiment. He denied the allegations and claimed that his multiracial heritage caused him to embrace noble causes such as the Civil Rights Movement, hip-hop culture, pan-americanism, and Taiwanese nationalism.
[edit] United States presidential election, 2008
In the United States presidential election, 2008, Wallace endorses former Vietnam War POW, Senator John McCain.
[edit] Controversy
[edit] These chickz are too hot: Girlz shouldn't wear anythin'
Wallace generated significant national attention when he was asked to comment on the recent pregnancy of teen idol Jessica Alba and glamour model Michelle Marsh. He controversially remarked that he is getting them out of his "hot list" and made allusion to Destiny's Child's hit single Soldier and rapper Soulja Boy.
"Yeah, y'all know I don't give a hell about a celebrity I don't even know. I don't give a flyin' you-know-what about what Jessica is up to. She can do what she wants. I couldn't care less. You know what I'm saying? No, man, I'm pissed. All y'all take this down. I'm pissed, man. I don't care about nobody except my own 'hood. All I gotta do is to take her off my list. Her and Michelle, I mean. I don't need 'em. I pimp all over the world, man. I'm a fucking soldier."
When pressed further to elaborate on his so-called "hot list", he made comments that was perceived to some as objectifying women and most infamously remarked that these chickz are too hot: Girlz shouldn't wear anythin', which caused a minor uproar. He also praised British girls as the most desirable.
"My whole thing is to address the issue, you know, and let the people understand how I, you know, judge 'em…. Well, this stuff is pretty natural. Like, Keeley Hazell, you gotta check her out, her voluptuous figure is flawless. She's like a goddess, man. Like Aphrodite, you know. That's the ideal chick we all want, right? Big, natural tits and ass and everything. They ain't gonna keep all that after they give birth, right? Lucy Pinder and Danielle Lloyd qualify, too. That's what British chicks are all about. You know, being "Great" Britain and all that. My homie Jay-Z is real lucky to get one of those girls in Beyoncé Knowles. What y'all need to do is to quit lyin' to yourself. You're fooling yourself. It's time to live your life to the fullest, you know. Like damn, these chickz are too hot: Girlz shouldn't wear anythin'. We gotta make it a rule."
He also cited former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins, hip hop model Esther Baxter, beauty queen Kari Ann Peniche, and actress Megan Fox as part of his hot-list mainly on account of their physical attributes.
After facing substantial criticism from feminist groups and satirical responses from the media, Wallace issued a statement that stated that what he said was taken out of context and that he had always been a champion of gender equality.
[edit] Quotes
- "After reading some of the comments above, I feel that I should clear my chest, and be very upfront about my pointed error. I feel like a complete boob about the whole thing -- I was sucked in by the emotion. Clearly my firm standards have sagged and I tried to milk this subject to the bitter end. Hopefully I’ve been weaned from my evil ways." -User:Kevin Murray [1]
- "We, like most of our readers, like pretty girls. And if they are as pretty as today's birthday suit girl ,who cares whether they are dressed or not?" -page 3 mission statement
