Ceravision

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ceravision is privately owned high-tech company based in Bletchley, Buckinghamshire, which was founded in 1997.

Ceravision has developed a electrodeless lighting system, named Continuum, the efficiency of which is claimed to be greater than 50%.[1] The lamp works as follows: microwaves are directed into a dielectric waveguide. Strong electric fields are generated within the waveguide, where a glass capsule containing gas mixture is also placed. The electric fields creates a plasma, which emits light. The system claims the following benefits:

  • High efficiency
  • Fast-on
  • High-quality spectrum
  • Color stability
  • Absence of mercury
  • Extremely long life

After further product advancement, Ceravision moved forward to sign world renowned Sanmina SCI as sub-contract manufacturing partner.[2]
