It seems a little vague to have a page devoted to central coasts.

It should perhaps be split into California Central Coast and Australia Central Coast? --Brion
I agree with Brion. -- Zoe
As a resident, I would recommend Central Coast of New South Wales, as it is how it is usually qualified. There is another in Queensland[1], and Google throws up another in Oregon[2]. I used a place-holder link like this on the Gosford page: Central Coast of NSW. Also, Newcastle isn't usually considered part of the Central Coast. I would say Gosford and Wyong instead, as these are also the admin centres of the two local councils. (Ironically, both towns are a fair way inland.) -- AndrewKepert 23:04, 7 Aug 2003 (UTC)
You may be right about Central Coast of New South Wales -- that's probably a better name than my one. It seems strange to me to lump in Kincumber, Avoca, Woy Woy, etc. with Gosford. Although they are part of the same local council, in my experience residents of those areas do not think of themselves as Gosford residents. They identify much more strongly with the Central Coast. I would prefer to see Gosford talk about the town and make a minor reference to the LGA, and have the Central Coast article list and discuss the other regions. You say you are a resident? I thought you said you taught at Newcastle. Do they have maths at Ourimbah these days? -- Tim Starling 00:45, Aug 11, 2003 (UTC)
Yep, and I'm the mathematician. When you say "these days" I have been here since 1995 when the Science group started up (now the School of Applied Sciences). There has been a first-year-only Engineering stream here since 2002, and the Educ students have a maths course too. Enough to keep me busy.
Regarding "Gosford township" vs "Gosford City" on Gosford, the target of my version of this page was originally the latter (not knowing of the original Gosford page), arising from the link on the NSW LGA page. The Census data on Gosford is for the City Council area. I tried to keep the two separated, but they didn't end up this way in the sidebar.
When I get a spare minute, I will put together a Wyong page along the same lines (including Ourimbah & refs to the University). I may also include some more ABS data in both. (My choice of age-based demographics and education was biased by my own views of the region.)
