Century Park (2009)

Century Park Station is an LRT station currently under construction, with expected completion in 2009, as part of the Edmonton Transit System's South LRT Extension Project.[1]. It's named after a transit-oriented development called Century Park, located on the former Heritage Mall site next to the station. When completed, Century Park will be the southern terminus of the LRT line.

In January 2008, Mayor Stephen Mandel announced that the South line will be continued beyond Century Park, south along 111 Street to Anthony Henday Drive and then west to 127 Street. There will be a station and 1,000-car park-and-ride near that intersection, then the LRT will continue south for two more stops. Long range plans for the south line include possible extension all the way to the Edmonton International Airport and Leduc. [2]

Current plans call for both the Southgate and Century Park Stations to open on April 25, 2010.[3]
