Centrum Arena (Prestwick)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Centrum Arena is a 2,733-seat ice arena in Prestwick, Scotland. It also contains a sports bar (Tholos) and a fitness centre (Aurigin). Owned by Barr Facilities Management, the Centrum was home to the Ayr Scottish Eagles from 1996 to 2002. Many fans blamed the movement from the Centrum to the Braehead Arena for the club's bankruptcy shortly into their initial season there while others blamed chairman Bill Barr and the lack of support from South Ayrshire Council. Currently, the main Centrum Arena is unused, although the gym is still in use .

Criminally Centrum Arena has seen its last Ice Hockey match. After years of sitting idle it is likely to make way for flats which will add little to Ayr's by now dwindling attraction to tourists and residents alike.
