Centre for Quantum Computation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Centre for Quantum Computation or CQC was founded at the University of Oxford by Artur Ekert. The Cambridge Centre for Quantum Computation was created in 2002, when Artur Ekert moved to Cambridge to become the first Leigh Trapnell Professor of Quantum Physics. Both CQCs conduct theoretical and experimental research into all aspects of quantum information processing, into the implications of the quantum theory of information for physics itself, and into foundational and conceptual questions in quantum theory and quantum information theory.
The Cambridge CQC is based at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP), within the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, located near Clarkson Road and Wilberforce Road in West Cambridge. The Oxford base is the Clarendon Laboratory (Lindemann building), which is located opposite the T-junction of Keble Road and Parks Road.
The CCQC's permanent faculty to date have been Artur Ekert, Leigh Trapnell Professor of Quantum Physics at Cambridge from 2002 to 2007, and Adrian Kent, currently Reader in Quantum Physics at Cambridge. The University expects to appoint a successor to Artur Ekert as Leigh Trapnell Professor in early 2008.
