Centre for Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology (CPN) was established at NIPER), Mohali through a grant from the Department of Science & Technology (DST) of the Government of India to fuel the Indian initiative in research and development in Nanotechnology.

The CPN is presently working under two Principal Investigators-- Prof. P. Rama Rao (Director of NIPER and Head of Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at NIPER) and Dr. M. N. V. Ravi Kumar (Assistant Professor in Department of Pharmaceutics at NIPER and head of the nanotechnology-drug delivery group).
