The Centre for Excellence in Computational Engineering (known as CEN) at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, a new research university in India, works on cutting edge technologies in solving computational problems that can be applied in real world projects. The Centre is involved in many research projects funded by leading organizations like ISRO, NPOL, IT Ministry (Govt. of India), DST (Govt. of India) etc. One of the major and upcoming fields the Centre is working on presently is ‘Language Technologies’, which finds some of its applications in VRC (Village Resource Center) project as a part of AMRITA-ISRO Initiatives for Rural Upliftment. The Centre conducts Masters in Technology programme in Computational Engineering where the students are exposed to an environment that is has the right proportion of research and academics.
CEN is one of the leading centres witin the various Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Deemed University campuses. The centre is headed by Dr K P Soman[1] who has been in research field for more than 25 years. He secured his PhD from the prestigious IIT Kharagpur and was scientific officer in the Reliability Engineering Centre, IIT Kharagpur, before joining Amrita.
