Centre 2000

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Centre 2000 was an indoor shopping mall that had been located in the Canadian city of Laval, Quebec North of Montreal.

The mall was built-in and opened in the late 60's/early 1970's under the name Centre 2000 - Hypermarche. After the shopping centre closed their last stores in the end of the 90's beginning of 2000, the mall was promptly closed and demolished except for the furniture store Leon's which is still open. The land is now part of Centropolis Laval.

Some of the mall's anchor tenants included the "Odeon Laval Centre 2000" movie theatre (renamed "Cineplex-Odeon Centre 2000" in 1984) which operated from 1975 to 1997, Pinocchio's video arcade, a Zellers and a Maxi.[1][2] The site was host to an annual Armenian Festival.[3]

The site was sold as a 375,000 sq.ft. enclosed retail mall in December 2000.[4]
