The Central Line is a major railway line in Tanzania, operated by the Tanzania Railways Corporation. It runs west from Dar es Salaam to Kigoma via Dodoma. A branch leads to Kigoma on Lake Tanganyika and from Tabora to Mwanza. The construction of the line opened up trade between Lake Tanganyika and the east coast and spurred the growth of the ports at its termini.
