The Central American Revolutionary Workers' Party or Partido Revolucionario de los Trabajadores Centroamericanos (PRTC) is one of the five organizations which make up the Marxist-Leninist political party Farabundo Martà para la Liberacion Nacional (FMLN).
However, between 1980 and 1992, before peace accords were signed, these groups were terrorist organizations fighting against the Salvadorian government. The PRTC took responsibility for the 1985 Zona Rosa attacks on June 19, 1985, which resulted in the murder of thirteen people, including four United States Marines and two American businessmen in El Salvador.[1] On December 12, 1996, the New York Times reported that Pedro Antonio Andrade, former commander of a PRTC urban commando unit in El Salvador, had been paid to inform on the rebels and allowed to settle in New Jersey in 1990, despite the conclusion of American intelligence officials and prosecutors that he had been involved in the attack.[2]
