Centerville Unincorporated, Georgia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Centerville (Unincorporated) is a place name for southern Gwinnett County, Georgia, United States. Centerville is located south of Snellville and is situated around the intersections of SR 124 and SR 264. The area is served by Gwinnett County Public Schools Shiloh Cluster. The local post office is called Centerville Branch, but that is not an acceptable mailing address. People should use "Snellville" when mailing items to people in the 30039 ZIP Code. The area also has the Centerville Branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library system which shares a building with the Centerville Community Center.

Centerville struggled to gain its own identity in the mid 1990s when the area still used the Lithonia, Georgia mailing address. The Centerville name was deemed inappropriate due to the fact that there is already a Centerville, Georgia near Warner Robins in Houston County.
