Center of Jesus the Lord on Rampart Street
The Center of Jesus the Lord formerly Carmelite Chapel of St. Joseph and St. Teresa the Carmelite Monastery is a Roman Catholic church and retreat house located on Rampart Street in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The massive walled complex was completed in 1895 by architect James Freret and builder Fred Reusch, Jr. as the convent for a community of Discalced Carmelites. The Carmelites moved out in 1971 and sold the building to the Archdiocese of New Orleans in 1975. The Archdiocese now maintains the facility as the Center of Jesus the Lord, a Catholic Charismatic retreat center and worshiping community.
