Center for Citizen Leadership

The Center for Citizen Leadership (CCL) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that is seeking to develop, enable, and celebrate Citizen Leaders. The Center offers fellowships to returning veterans-with special attentions to wounded and service disabled veterans-in hopes to develop young Citizen Leaders through community participation, service and reflection.

The Center for Citizen Leadership was founded in May 2007. Eric Greitens, Kaj Larson, and Kenneth Harbuagh used their combat and disability pay from serving in the military to start the Center. First stationed in Washington, D.C., CCL has since moved and is currently headquartered in downtown St. Louis, MO.

The Center honored Mission Continues Fellow Matthew Trotter on April 28, 2008 with the Travis Manion Courage in Service Award for his outstanding work at the Triple H Equitherapy Center in Pipe Creek, Texas. This award is named in memory of 1st Lieutenant Travis Manion ( USMC), who was killed in Iraq on April 29, 2007.

[edit] Mission Continues Fellowship

The Mission Continues fellowship program engages returning veterans—with special attentions to wounded and service disabled veterans—in continued service at home in the United States. There are currently four Mission Continues Fellows:^[1]

Readen Clavier - Archinoetics, LLC
Michael Paul - National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) and Wounded Warrior Clinic
Chris Marvin - Warrior Transition Unit at Tripler Army Medical Center
Mathew Trotter - Triple H Equitherapy Center in Pipe Creek, Texas

The founding directors of the Center for Citizen Leadership bring years of experience and service to the organization. Their service stretches across civil and military affairs, government service in legislative, executive, and judicial branches, international humanitarian efforts, and juvenile justice service, youth service, and involvement with veterans’ organizations.

The Center for Citizen Leadership's Board of Advisors includes Senator Max Cleland from Georgia, Former Governor Bob Holden from Missouri, Vincent C. Schoemehl, Jr. (46th mayor of St. Louis), and Former Senator Harris Wofford from Pennsylvania. ^[2]
