A CEMEC: No longer a true BMW...

Created in 1947, the Centre d'études de moteurs à explosion et à combustion (Explosion and combustion engines studies center) (CEMEC) was called Centre de montage et de réparation (Assembly and repair center) (CMR), that repaired German BMW motorbikes (founded in 1944).

CEMEC ended up making specific models of BMWs, intended for the French administrations.

In 1954, It was repurchased by Ratier.
