[edit] Nappa's DNA

Nappa's DNA was not used to create Cell in the manga, only in the anime.

I would beg to differ. My translation (volume 31, chapter 2) states that Nappa's was indeed used. Beowulph 16:57, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
I think that King Cold's DNA was not used it was Freeza's Dragon Emperor 05:54, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Cell has the DNA both King Cold and Freeza. It even shows both of their pictures when Cell discusses his DNA heritage with Piccolo. Beowulph 13:51, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Why would he need it when he has freeza's Dragon Emperor 22:56, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
That's like asking why Cell was given Vegeta's DNA when he had Goku's. It's because the broader ranger of powerful beings Cell can be constructed from, the stronger he'll be, and the more abilities he'll have available to him. Remember: King Cold was stronger than Freeza was, according to Goku. Maybe Freeza was selected for his great range of techniques, and King Cold was selected to give a greater fighting potential.
What do you mean "Why Cell was given Vegeta's DNA when he had Goku's"? Just because they are both Saiyans doesn't mean they have the same techniques! Second Form Cell used Vegeta's Big Bang Attack against Super Vegeta, remember? Son Gohan (talk) 13:19, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Daishokaioshin 23:00, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Someone once claimed that Cell belongs on the list of Saiyans in Dragon Ball, since he has Saiyan Cells. Should he be? I think not, but I'd like your opinions. Jienum
He's not a Saiyan, so he doesn't belong there. People who claim he could go SSJ because of having Saiyan cells are similarly confused about this. Cell isn't a Saiyan in any way, shape, or form, thus he cannot go SSJ anymore than Krillin could. He is an Android that taps the powers inherent in certain individuals' cells. He doesn't belong to any of the races that those cells were gathered from.
Daishokaioshin 01:05, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Cell's race is the same as all the other creations of Dr. Gero, artificial human. At most, Cell merits a note on the page. Beowulph 01:24, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Err... No. Artificial human is what 17 and 18 were. Cell was something else, much like how 16 was not the same as 18. Since Cell bears no similarities to any humans except PERHAPS if there are human cells in his body, that would kind of disqualify him. Artificial lifeform, yes. Artificial human, no.
Daishokaioshin 01:30, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
I should clarify, I meant his race should be "Jinzō'ningen", which, according to our article on it, is a pretty broad term meaning "man-made man" and encompasses androids, cyborgs, robots... etc. Beowulph 03:35, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Cell pretty much had everyone's DNA from the time of the Red Ribbon Army's defeat up until everyone's DNA from the Freeza Saga. Yes, Cell had DNA from Nappa, Raditz, King Cold, Gohan and maybe even the Saibamen! One thing I don't get that Dr. Gero never knew about Goku turning into a Super Saiyan because he had stopped his research until Namek, stating that he had had enough information for the Androids' plan to be put into process. Yeah, I know Cell said that his development was growing in a hidden bunker below Gero's lab, but it's just confusing. One thing I would've liked to see Cell do is perform the Masenko move. Son Gohan (talk) 13:07, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] What about Tien, Krillin, Yamcha, and I think Gohan?

Although I haven't watched Dragonball Z in a long time. I remember him saying that he has the cells of Tien, Krillin, and Yamcha. How else can he do Solar Flair? I know Goku learned the attack but in the episode he made a reference to getting the attack from Tien. I think Gohan was apart of cell too. Shouldn't they be mentioned? Zachorious 07:50, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Check the footnote. In the manga (the highest level of cannon) the ones listed are the ones he got his DNA from. The others were added in the anime only. Beowulph 14:31, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

In Dragonballz when Cell unleashes the Kamehameha At Gohan when he is at ssj2 level Vegeta says that the Kamehameha that Gohan Fired back was a lot larger than Cells. I haven't seen this episode in a long time but what I can remember is that the Kamehameha is actually smaller. does this mean that Vegeta was talking about the energy used to fire the Kamehameha or does he literally mean the size of it? Daemonic Rite 08:40, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

The power of the Kamehameha that Gohan fired was higher then the one Cell fired, not the actual size of the blast. "Bigger" in the Dragonball Z lingo to my best knowlege means bigger in Power. A blast can be huge, but the more concentrated the blast is, the more power it has, Take for example the Kamehameha, and then take Freeza's beam. Freeza's beam outclasses the Kamehameha in almost all catagories, except for maybe explosive force when it reaches the target. Majinvegeta

I don't kow what you're talking about. The Kamehameha wave is more powerful than Freeza's beam. Maybe in the videogames it's more powerful. Freeza shot his beam at Super Saiyan Goku's chin and he laughed at it. Goku fired a Kamehameha at Freeza and it hurt his hand, and that was before he turned Super Saiyan. It all depends on the amount of power you have. Besides how can be sure that Freeza's beam can outclass the Kamehameha wave if both attacks have never clashed. At least when comparing the Kamehameha, with the Dodonpa, which Muten Roshi said was stronger. This is because he was describing the basic Kamehameha. It also should be noted that Gohan's Kamehameha overwhelved Cell's and eclipsed it. This happened before his destruction as well, where the more powerful Kamehameha ecllipses the other. That's what is usually the nature in giant beam struggles. The more powerful blast grows larger than the other. Uglyguy2006

If Cell had Gohan's cells he would have been able to strengthen himself through his anger, like Gohan can; as such, Gohan wouldn't have been a threat.24.118.227.213 07:38, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Recent changes

DragonBall1986, I don't believe your recent changes improve this article. I believe the changes make it considerably more cumbersome and add statements which are not verifiable, such as his taking certain abilities from Tenshinhan.

I also don't believe we need an entire section dedicated to his special abilities in the anime, especially if you're going to mix-and-match in the manga section. Frankly, there were only two or three that were new to the anime and they're already listed at the bottom of the existing special abilities section.

Regarding the picture, I agree with the original removal. We don't need two seperate pictures of basically the exact same scene. Beowulph 21:52, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

His techniques are all out of order, again! Stop reverting the page if you won't fix the techniques to link correctly. Dragonball1986 22:00, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
You just completeley ignored what he said. Read his comment, and ask yourself, "Is what I'm doing right?" and then reply to him. You have to give some reason to support your changes or they will be reverted.--KojiDude (Contributions) 22:02, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

i have recently made changes and they have been reverted. i am in no way trying to be mean or besmerch this page. its just that it seems to leave many things of cell out like his personality changes or at least more info about his battle with gohan. statements in it seem to be lacking to me. one statement says how cells personality changes through out the show, but does not have the natural progression of saying how. and it goes from saying gohan tranforms and cell doesnt accept his loss gracefully. then it is mentioned about him being teleported away and after regeneration returning and killing trunks. no mention of his power increase is mentioned nor is how he regressed to his half-perfect form but after his regeneration he reaquires his form. the way the article details his death seems to imply gohan defeats him with no effort which untrue. can no one at least consider these facts to possibly add before deleting them (Largoss (talk) 05:21, 18 March 2008 (UTC))

[edit] Meet Gooden

Hello there Ladies and Gentlemen! My name is Gooden (also called the Goo-Master). I don't talk very much here but i do contribute. I'm not much of a Dragon Ball fan but i absolutely love Cell. He is one of my favorite villains of all time. As a contributor, i'm going to add some additions to enhance the article. However, i fear that my changes will evoke disputes. Hopefully this will not be the case, and we can come to a mutual agreement. Thanks Gooden 02:07, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

So long as they aren't fan opinion or outright vandalism and spelt correctly. I understand you like Cell but don't go overboard okay? HEre, have a look at this article to get you started. Wikipedia:Vanalism MightyKombat 17:15, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

I believe that would be Wikipedia:Vandalism. 209.247.22.137 18:56, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Special abilities

  • Piccolo's conversation with Cell confirms that the Kamehameha came from Goku.
  • We don't need to list where the originator of an ability got it from (Kamehameha from Goku who got it from Roshi etc.)
  • When did Cell use the Zanzoken?
  • See the special abilities page for the discussion on Cell and the Genki Dama Beowulph 22:44, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
Cell used Zanzoken repeatedly. Especially during his fight with Goku during the Cell Games. Remember how the two of them kept attacking only to have the other guy vanish and attack them, just as they were vanishing to attack the other guy, etc.? That was Zanzoken.
Daishokaioshin 23:36, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
No, it wasn't, Cell only uses the Zanzoken once in the Anime, and never in the Manga. He did it one time against SS2 Gohan, after Gohan had done it to him. The Zanzoken isn't simply dissappearing and then re-appearing, the Zanzoken is when a fighter travels at a specific speed and then dodges extremely fast, creating an after-image in order to trick the opponent. However, during his fight with Goku, he does "dissappear" because of his speed, but so doesn't Vegeta, Piccolo, and everyone else, and they never learned the Zanzoken.Majinvegeta
I really don't think your definition of Zanzoken is accurate. The example I gave had them using Zanzoken repeatedly. The definition of Zanzoken during Dragon Ball is significantly different from the definition during Dragon Ball Z, because the speeds they operated at increased as well. The fight between Goku and Cell, by your definition or the rest of the world's, had them using Zanzoken repeatedly.

This article claims that "Cell's final form, while possessing a tail does not have the ability to suck the life out of other beings". However, in Dragonball GT Cell attempts to absorb Goku,(of course, he fails) so this means that he CAN absorb other lifeforms while perfect, he merely absorbs them completely instead of liquidizing them first.24.118.227.213 (talk) 09:25, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

That was filler, doesn't apply here. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 08:05, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Shouldn't it be noted that he can absorb people whole in his first and second forms, rather than only by stabbing them? Look at how he absorbed Android #17 and #18. Admeister200x, 10 February 2008. —Preceding comment was added at 03:09, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Cell is not a machine

The article refers to Cell as a machine when he's more of a biological creation. Also, I think it's only the English manga that reffers to him as an "it" so that should be noted as well.

Cell is machine. He is correctly referred to as Bio-Android. Or even a cyborg. In the Japanese manga, despite his virtually completely organic nature, he refers to himself as a "jinzoningen" created by Dr. Gero. "jinzoningen" can refer not only to android, but cyborg and others between android and cyborg. Bio-Android fits into that category. He is also programmed to carry out Dr. Gero's mission, and even genetically engineered super-soldiers with programming can be referred to as machines for their behaviour which can be compared to an automaton. Also if it was you that changed Cell's race as a "Scientifical being" (which makes no sense), I'd like you to know i'm changing it to "Android". "Scientifical being" is not a Dragon Ball race. It's not even a fictional race. Besides, if the Z-Fighters refer to him as an android (or "jinzoningen), and Dr. Gero refers to him as android (or jinzoningen), and Cell himself refers to him as an android (or jinzoningen), Then he is an android, (or whatever the English anime calls an android). Uglyguy2006

They call them Androids in the English anime and Artificial Humans in the English manga.

But is a bio-android a machine?Dark Rain

Supposedly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.214.175.60 (talk) 23:59, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Picture = wrong

That thing on the bottom of his face is yellow and not orange. FireBall00 21:42, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Which picture are you talking about?Onikage725 00:04, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
He was talking about the top picture they had on there before the current one. 209.247.22.137 18:59, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Presence on a list

Would anyone care to make a section on the Earthlings list for Cell? - A Link to the Past (talk) 19:07, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

No, because he's not an Earthling. Admeister200x —Preceding comment was added at 03:11, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

umm... Considering how Cell was born (or, rather, created) on Earth, I'd say that He is an Earthling, so he has some merit for a section devoted to him on the Earthlings list. ~~Weedle_McHairybug~~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.32.230.174 (talk) 13:56, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] References

Can anyone give any examples of Cell from the manga, escepically in the two references which are only in the TV. At least put next to it the manga issue or chapters. I would do ity myself but I don't know which manga issue or chapter it is. Uglyguy2006

[edit] Internet Meme

I think his being a famous internet meme should be mentioned —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.149.63.15 (talk) 18:17, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I think so too but I'm sure many would disagree. Memes aren't usually put on Wikipedia, except after long brutal and pointless arguments. Tithonfury (talk) 04:16, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

What internet meme? Son Gohan (talk) 16:56, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

-> He is apparently part of a meme started by 4chan. look here: of course, since that source is eBaums world, you *may* want a better source. But that is a what a cursory search of Google found when I looked for 'Shoop da woop'.

[edit] GA assessment/quick-fail

I’ve quick-failed the GA nomination under quick fail criterion 1: “A complete lack of reliable sources”. Per WP:SOURCES, articles “should rely on reliable, third-party published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy”. Only one reference is not from “Dragon Ball Z manga”, the reference "Early character drawings at http://www.daiex.com". This reference, in addition to being insufficient third-party support, is a not an English website and a “reputation for fact-checking and accuracy” cannot be reasonably ascertained. [edit] Bio means life or living!!

Cell isn't mechanical or not completely mechanical. Notice that he has living tissue. (example) During the battle with Gohan, he is blasted by an enormous Kamehameha Wave. as a result he loses a few limbs, and starts to BLEED! MACHINES DON'T BLEED!! This is proof that he is more than a simple Jinzoningen! Also notice that #16-#20 don't regenerate! while cell is the only Jinzoningen that does, besides Coola if he even counts! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Battoubro (talkcontribs) 23:01, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Technically, Android 19 bled as well (He was seen with blood coming out of his mouth (when Vegeta landed a very hard hit on his back.), though for some strange reason, Vegeta referred to it as "oil" even though it was crimson in color.), heck, Android 17 and android 18 bled at certain points as well.

Cell is neither a machine, an artificial human or has any mechanical parts in him. He is simply artificial lifeform with some organisms that are part of Saiyans and humans alike. I believe 16 bled at some point, as well as 17, 18 and 19. Pretty much any being in Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, whether they may be human, Saiyan, machine, artifical human or Namekian can bleed. Note: Namekians have purple blood. Son Gohan (talk) 13:24, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
