Cellulose acetate phthalate is a commonly used polymer in the formulation of pharmaceutics. It is a cellulose polymer with substituted phthalates at the hydroxyl positions. Its main use in pharmaceutics is with enteric formulations. Cellulose acetate phthalate is also commonly plasticized with diethyl phlthalte, a hydrophobic compound, or Triethyl citrate, a hydrophilic compound.
