The Cell ship is a fictional class of starship belonging to the Suliban cabal within the science fiction television series Star Trek: Enterprise. The cell ships may be divided into at least 2 different categories - a short single-pilot version, and the much less common longer version.
A Suliban cell ship was once captured by the crew of the Enterprise and entensively studied. Later, the ship was used by Captain Archer and Commander Charles Tucker to rescue Klaang, a Klingon courier. A captured cell ship was once again used by the Enterprise to mount a rescue of Captain Archer and Lieutenant Malcolm Reed at the verge of being hanged for spying on a pre-warp alien planet.
[edit] Technological specifications
Suliban cell ships are equipped with a cloaking device and a single high-yield particle weapons, at least some of the much longer cell ships are also equipped with tractor beams.
[edit] The Suliban Helix
An unusual feature of the cell ships is their ability to merge together and form a mammoth space station known as a "Helix". This Helix may hold some 3000 occupants.
In 2151, Captain Archer boarded a Helix and freed a Klingon courier named Klaang, helping avert a Klingon civil war. Later, the Helix was torn apart by Archer using a magnetic damper.
During one of his confrontations with the Suliban, Archer discovered a "temporal chamber" located inside the Helix. This temporal chamber was used by Silik and his Suliban cabal to communicate with their mysterious commander from the future during the Temporal Cold War.
