From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cedar Bridge is a crossing over Cedar Creek, in Madison County, Iowa, and prior to 1921, formed part of U.S. Route 169. It was built in 1883 and was used during filming of the feature film The Bridges of Madison County and features in the scenes where Francesca Johnson goes to meet Robert Kincaid and help him take photographs.
Cedar Bridge was refurbished at a cost of $128,073 during 1998, and was destroyed by an arsonist on September 3, 2002. A replacement bridge was built to the same plans and specifications as the original and opened during October, 2004.
