CDB (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CDB were an Australian R&B group of the 1990s. Its original members were brothers Gary and Brad Pinto, Andrew De Silva, and Danny Williams.

Originally from Dandenong, Victoria, the band formed in 1991 and performed local gigs for several years before being signed to Sony in 1994. Their debut album was Glide With Me, from which the first two singles "Hook Me Up" and "Hey Girl" were moderately successful. It was the third single, however, which launched them into the mainstream. A cover of "Let's Groove" by Earth, Wind & Fire, it reached number 2 on the Australian singles chart in 1995, and was the highest selling single of the year, selling over 70,000 copies. Glide With Me went on to generate 4 singles in total and went platinum.[citation needed]

A second album, Lifted, was released in 1997 with the lead single "Let It Whip". Jude Nicholas joined the group for this release, replacing Andrew De Silva. The album featured a more pop-oriented sound, and was only moderately successful.

After the album, the band decided to break up and concentrate on solo efforts. Gary Pinto released a single and album, however these were unsuccessful. He can now be seen as a backup vocalist on Australian Idol.

In 2007, the band's official MySpace page was updated to hint at a possible reunion.
