Non-free / fair use media rationale for 2006 Wikipedia CD Selection
Description

It illustrates an educational article about the entity that the CD cover contains.

Source

Download from news article on charity website, with agreement from the copyright owner that this is a valid fair use.

Article

2006 Wikipedia CD Selection

Portion used

The image is used as the primary means of visual identification of the article topic.

Low resolution?

It is a low resolution image, and thus not suitable for production of counterfeit goods. In addition the CD was distributed free so counterfeiting is unlikely to be an issue, and higher resolution copies are available on the charity's website. Furthermore the copyright statement on the CD states that the CD as a whole may be freely copied (but that derivative works are not generally allowed): so no counterfeiting issue.

Purpose of use

The CD cover is not used in such a way that a reader would be confused into believing that the article is written or authorized by the owner.

Replaceable?

It is not replaceable with an uncopyrighted or freely copyrighted image of comparable relevance.
