TV.com summary |
CBS Television Quiz was the first television game show ever to be broadcast regularly. It premiered on July 2, 1941. It ran until spring 1942. Other game shows before this were "test episodes" for experimental purposes. One of these was Truth or Consequences in the same year, while a show called Spelling Bee was broadcast on the BBC in 1938. It is also believed to be one of the first network television programs in the US.
CBS Television Quiz, produced by CBS Television and broadcast in black and white, was hosted by Gil Fates, who would later produce and/or direct many Goodson-Todman game shows on the network, with the assistance of Frances Buss.
