[edit] Defender

Hi Defender, I made the mistake in not noticing there was a Defender (yacht) article. Since the links were to the Defender article which is a disambiguation page, which ideally nothing should be linked to, I changed the link to something else which I thought would be helpful in someone creating a page about the boat. I should have noticed that the Defender (yacht) article existed and changed the link to that. Regards, -- Jeff3000 15:31, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

>> Thank you, Jeff! And thanks for making the fix. I'm not sure how it was linked to the disambiguated page in the first place - had to have been my screw-up. I appreciate your suggested readings - I'll go through them! Cbaer 16:36, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] External link on Pledge of Allegiance

Hi Chris! I must confess that when I looked at your external link I didn't notice that a large amount of the content of the book was available on the website. I just saw the table of contents of the book and thought it was basically an advertisement. My apologies. --Stormie 01:46, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, Stormie - I appreciate it! Cbaer 14:34, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] James Shaw West

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article James Shaw West, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. ROGER TALK 19:05, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair enough - I moved the material as you suggested. The James Shaw West article may be deleted. Thanks for your eyes. Cbaer 13:04, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Southampton_Island_1913.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Southampton_Island_1913.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:48, 23 December 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. OsamaK (talk) 20:48, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, OsamaK. I added additional source information that should better establish it as a public domain image. Cbaer (talk) 21:10, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] George Comer

Hello. It's been fun working with you on this article! Regarding your entry: Comer fathered at least one child while in Hudson Bay with a Inuit woman named Ooktok, Laurent Pameolik (1911-?). He was adopted by Shoofly and the shaman Angutimarik. were you going to add the citation? Thanks. Cheers. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:53, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I just found the citation and added it. You do great work! Keep it up!Cbaer (talk) 20:44, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Hello again. Thanks for working on this article with me; awesome to see it on DYK! It was really nice to have someone else's perspective and your photos added a lot. I noticed that you've worked on other maritime articles and I'd be glad to edit with you again on some of those. No, I don't have a citations tool so I go back and forth with the wikitemplates, or just type out the four usuals: url/title/publisher/accessdate. If you come across a citations tool, would you let me know, as it sure would be helpful. Cheers, --Rosiestep (talk) 04:10, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
WikiProject Ships Barnstar
Cbaer, This barnstar is awarded to you because of your many contributions to maritime articles, but in particular, because of your collegial spirit co-editing Capt. George Comer with me to DYK caliber, and because, afterwards, you pointed me to look at my Gadgets, and there was refTool, the newly-created citations tool! Rosiestep (talk) 22:39, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much! And thanks for pointing out refTool! Cbaer (talk) 22:58, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Henry W. Howgate

Hi Cbaer. I know you have some maritime resources, and wondered if you had access to photos of the vessels discussed in the Howgate article that could be added there? I self-nomed Henry W. Howgate for DYK? so the admin folks should be looking at the article by 4/20/2008 for possible inclusion on the Main Page. Thanks, and Cheers, --Rosiestep (talk) 19:27, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi Rosiestep - Great article - quite a story! I spent some time digging around for any graphics of the Florence, the Gulnare, and the Proteus, without much luck. There is this: [1] - which might be P.D. but for some reason it's not coming up for me. Maybe their website is down. I'll keep my eyes peeled for more. Keep up the great work! And if you can add anything to Promise Island (Nunavut), Pitsiulartok, or Cape Fullerton, your expertise is always welcome! Cbaer (talk) 14:50, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
