Cazenovia College

Cazenovia College is a private, two-year and four-year, residential liberal arts college located in the Village of Cazenovia in Madison County, New York. It enrolls approximately 800 students in associate & baccalaureate programs.

The college was founded in 1824 as the Seminary of the Genesee Conference; while founded by Methodists, the seminary was nonsectarian. It admitted women as well as men, and counted among its early graduates Leland Stanford.

Methodist sponsorship was withdrawn in 1942 when the seminary opened a women's college, Cazenovia Junior College. After the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools accredited the institution in 1961 it was renamed Cazenovia College for Women, and again to Cazenovia College in 1982 after it became coeducational.
