From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Cayman Islands Cadet Corps (CICC) is a youth organization in the Cayman Islands for male and female students between the ages of 12 and 16. It was established in 2001 and enacted by the Cayman Islands Cadet Corps Law of 2003.
The organisation aims to provide citizenship training via military-style activities, including instruction in military knowledge, drills, leadership, public speaking, field craft, land and sea navigation, signaling, physical fitness, first aid, arms skills, and music.
The CICC is split into four Detachments, 1st George Town Detachment, Westbay Detachment, Southsound Detachment and Cayman Brac Detachment.
The Organisation has been modeled on the UK organisation: (ACF) Army Cadet Force. Due to the successful creation of the CICC, the director of the ACF BTEC (http://www.cvqo.co.uk)at Frimley ACF headquarters has made available the same diploma model to the CICC. The First Diploma in Public Services is the equivalent to four GCSEs. The Cayman Islands is a British overseas Territory and uses the same school curriculum as the UK.
The First Commandant of the CICC, who is now retired, was Colonel Philip Hyre.
The CICC has an overseas exchange program with UK, Canada and other Caribbean Islands.
