I can't find what the 1853 enfield rifle cartridges were in fact coated with anywhere. Could anyone shed some light on what they what grease was used?(Lucas(CA) 20:48, 7 August 2007 (UTC))
The Rifle's were covered with either lard (pork fat) or tallow (beef fat). Both types of grease were used Flaming Scimitar 12:26, 20 August 2007 (UTC) 13:28 20 August 2007
