Caught By the River is the third and last single from Doves' number 1 charting album The Last Broadcast. The single was released on October 14, 2002 in the UK on limited edition CD, CD and 10" vinyl. The music video was directed by David Mould.

An unknown quantity of the limited CD version (with poster) were mispressed and excluded the Enhanced Video track, even though this Video track is listed on the CD sleeve. Instead, these mispressed CDs contained only the 3 audio tracks.

The B-side "Willow's Song" is an 'edit' which cuts out the intro and runs 3:58. The full-length version (which includes a 'false start' and runs 4:20) can be found on the Japanese EP for "Pounding."

It is also featured in episodes of The O.C. (season 1, episode 2) and Scrubs S02E03 My Case Study.
