The Museu de Conquilles del Cau del Cargol is a private collection, including over 16.000 species of carapaces from mollusca, snails and shells, from the whole world, at Vilassar de Dalt, (El Maresme). It was started in the year 1950, when its founder Jaume Bot i Arenas (1904-1983), started to expose it to the public. Later he enriched his collection with the acquisition of other collections. This way he reunited the work of several naturalists, from the year 1850 to the 1983, and formed a great collection, allowing to enjoy unique exotic units, in very good shape.
Actually it is one of the biggest carapaces colection from all geographic parts of the world, opened to the public. About one thousand units are exposed in a room recently renewed. It often receives the visit of the region schools studing the natural fauna.
