The first thing I need to know is if i can set the page to allow only me to delete parts of the page, so I won't worry about losing stuff.--CathCarey (talk) 03:20, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
What I need next is for someome (not me) to attempt to add a sentence to this page, so I'll know whether it's editable, or just readable, by others.

- Yes, everything is editable by everyone, with the exception of some pages that are protected - they should have a lock on the upper right. But you don't need to worry about losing stuff: Everything is preserved in the edit history, and you can always revert back to a previous version. There are some vandals around that enjoy replacing whole pages by statements like "this user is gay", but it probably won't happen to your talk page any time soon.
- Anyway, let me properly greet you:
[edit] Welcome!
Hello CathCarey, welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Our intro page contains a lot of helpful material for new users - please check it out! If you need help, visit Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on this page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. I would recommend starting by fixing existing articles first, so you get a feel for how articles are done. — Sebastian 08:46, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, Sebastian. Thanks very much.--CathCarey (talk) 02:00, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
I experimented to see if a user page may be more appropriate for this diary.--CathCarey (talk) 21:16, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Decided to try out the user page as a sandbox for my section of the climate chg in Wash page.--CathCarey (talk) 23:22, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- A more common practice is to create a subpage specifically to use as a sandbox, such as User:CathCarey/Sandbox. You can create as many as you need, so one for your diary could be at User:CathCarey/Diary. Basically, this is to reduce confusion on the part of other editors that this is meant only as a workspace and is not a blog or substitute for an article. You can find out more at Wikipedia:User page and Wikipedia:About the Sandbox. Pairadox (talk) 23:57, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Paradox! That's what I've done, and thanks for all the links.--CathCarey (talk) 02:00, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
