[edit] Redirect

I've redirected the previous entry to this page to conform better with the usage on the archdiocesan website:

http://www.archdiocese-phl.org/parishes/7000.htm

I've also cleaned up the article a bit. Miguel 02:04, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Yes, but the Archdiocesan listing has no hyphen. Also Wikipdeia style prefers that "and" be spelled out. Also the abbreviations SS. for Saints and S. for Saint are not widely known to the general reader. For these reasons, I am proposing to move it back to Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, which is what the cathedral itself has at the top of its official website, clariosophic (talk) 20:11, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

I am proposing Cathedral-Basilica of SS. Peter & Paul back to Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, a former title of the article and the name that the cathedral itself has at the top of its official website, The hyphen is not necessary. The SS. is not generally known to the general reader. The ampersand (&) should be spelled out. Because the former title is a redirect page to the present article, the move must be done by an adminintrator, please comment below. clariosophic (talk) 20:39, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

  • Comment As you can see from Category:Minor basilica churches most Cathedral Basilicas do not have "Basilica" in the article title. I don't know Philly, but unless it is normally referred to locally as a "Cathedral Basilica" I would do the same. Few of our Cathedral articles have the full formal name as title - they are often very long-winded. Certainly the current hyphen should go. Johnbod (talk) 21:00, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
