The Cathedral of Kuopio
Building: The cathedral of Kuopio, the fifth Evangelic-Lutheran church in the city of Kuopio, the first church was built in 1552.
Built: Architect Pehr W. Palmrooth's plan, 1795 Construction begin under Jaakko Rijif's supervision 1806 and continued until 1808 when the Finnish War started in spring. Four years after the war the constuction work continued under Pehr Granstedt 1813-1815. The services in the cathedral started in 1816 and has been repaired in 1866, 1877, 1895 and 1961. The bell tower rises to the hight of 35,5 metres from the ground level.
