Cats U.K.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cats U.K. were a British four-piece all-girl band who had an October 1979 UK hit with the single, "Luton Airport" (right).
The record, which reached No. 22 in the UK Singles Chart, was inspired by the 1977 Campari advert (itself inspired by the Leonard Rossiter/Joan Collins Cinzano ones) in which the actress Lorraine Chase responds to Jeremy Clyde's line 'Were you truly wafted here from paradise?' with the reply, 'Nahh, Luton Airport!.
The band featured Deena Payne, who coincidently went on to appear in Emmerdale with Lorraine Chase.
