Cathy Olesen

Cathy Olesen is a Canadian politician and the current mayor of Strathcona County, Alberta.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba in 1981 with a major in political science and a minor in economics. She also attended the University of Waterloo and completed courses in environmental studies.
Cathy was elected to Strathcona County Council in 1995 as councillor for Ward 4, was re-elected in 1998 and was returned by acclamation in 2001. In 2004, she staged an upset over her main mayoral rival Vic Bidzinski and was elected mayor of Strathcona County. She is also the Past President of the Trans Canada Yellowhead Highway Association and sits on the Edmonton Regional Airport Authority, the Alberta Industrial Heartland Board of Directors, the Alberta Capital Region Alliance Board of Directors, the Capital Health Authority, and the Alberta Capital Region Wastewater Commission Board of Directors.
Cathy is married to Rex Adam and has had four children with him.
