Genesis 1:1-3 |
In the beginning, God created heaven and earth. But the earth was empty and unoccupied, and darknesses were over the face of the abyss; and so the Spirit of God was brought over the waters. And God said, "Let there be light." And light became. |
John 3:16 |
For God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that all who believe in him may not perish, but may have eternal life. |
The Catholic Public Domain Version, abbreviated as CPDV, is a modern Catholic translation of the Sacred Bible from the Sixtus V and Clement VIII Latin Vulgate edition. The sole translator and editor is Ronald L. Conte Jr.. The translator used the Challoner Douay-Rheims version as a guide in translating the Latin Vulgate into English. This translation also features a Latin-English Study which includes the Latin Vulgate, the English CPDV translation, translation notes, and commentary.
