Catholic News Service (CNS) is an American news agency specializing in reporting religion. CNS was established in 1920 and is a leading source of news for Catholic print and broadcast media throughout the world. The news agency labels itself as the primary source of national and world news that appears in the U.S. Catholic press. It is editorially independent and a financially self-sustaining division of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. CNS is based in Washington, D.C.^[1]
