Catherine Pole, Countess of Huntingdon

Catherine Pole, Countess of Huntingdon (born before 1520 [1] – 23 September 1576) daughter of Henry Pole, 1st Baron Montagu and Jane Neville. On 25 June 1532 Catherine married Francis Hastings, 2nd Earl of Huntingdon. They had eleven children.

  1. Frances Anne Hastings (1533 – 1574) married Henry Compton, 1st Baron Compton and was mother of William Compton, 1st Earl of Northampton
  2. Henry Hastings, 3rd Earl of Huntingdon (1536 – 14 December 1595).
  3. William Hastings (b. 1537).
  4. George Hastings, 4th Earl of Huntingdon (1540 – 3 December, 1604)
  5. Sir Edward Hastings (1541 – died about 1603) married Barbara Deveraux, daughter of Sir William Deveraux and Jane Sccudamore.
  6. Catherine Hastings (11 August 1542 – 22 September 1576) married Henry Clinton, 2nd Earl of Lincoln and was mother of Thomas Clinton, 3rd Earl of Lincoln
  7. Walter Hastings (1544 – 20 August, 1616) married Joyce Roper.
  8. Lady Elizabeth Hastings (b. abt. 1546 – 24 August 1621) married Edward Somerset, 4th Earl of Worcester
  9. Anne Hastings (b. 1548).
  10. Francis Hastings (b. abt. 1550 – 26 September 1610) married Maud Longdord.
  11. Mary Hastings (b. 1552).

The year 1508 at tudorplace.com.ar; 1510 at familysearch.org; and the ambiguous date of “born after 1520” at thepeerage.com satisfies the marriage date of Catherine’s parents “before May 15, 1520”, found at medievalgenealogy.org.uk. It is also worth consideration that the year of birth of their first child was not until 1533.
