Catherine Hunt

Dame Catherine Hunt DBE (1854–18 October 1948), née Catherine Reeve, was a prominent figure in Colchester, Essex, England.

Catherine Reeve married E. A. Hunt (died 1923) in 1896. She was a member of Colchester Town Council from 1918 to 1934, being elected its first female alderman, and served as Colchester's first female mayor in 1924.

For many years she served as chairman of the Colchester branch of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Families Association and the Colchester Local War Pensions Committee, and for these services she was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 1920 civilian war honours.
