Cathedral Parish
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cathedral Parish (traditional Chinese: 大堂區; pinyin: Dà Tángqū; Portuguese: Freguesia da Catedral) is a southeast region of Macau Peninsula in the former Portuguese colony of Macau, now a Special Administrative Region of China. It is the second largest peninsular district in Macau (after Our Lady Fatima Parish).
- Area: 1.43 km² (21% of the peninsula)
- Population: 29,000 (least populated region on the peninsula)
- Population density: 20,881 persons per km² (the least on the peninsula)[citation needed]
Its western part is the historic financial centre of Macau. Praia Grande Central Business District (南灣中心商業區) is in south-central part of the district. All of the banks (over 20) in Macau have offices here.
Quality restaurants, 4-star and 5-star hotels are mostly located in this district. High-rise buildings are located on the eastern part, which was reclaimed from sea. And the eastern edge is the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal.
