Exorcism is a way by which an evil spirit is cast out of a person who has been possessed by it. In Catholicism this is done by commanding the spirit to leave in the name of Jesus Christ. This in reminder of the order Jesus gave to his discipels to cast out demons and to heal the sick in his name.
