Catalencoder is free software for converting MPEG2 (VOB) video to XviD format.

Catalencoder uses many external applications, all of which are also free software:
- LAME (encoding WAV to MP3).
- A52Dec (encoding AC3 to WAV).
- DGIndex (VOB to AC3, and video index building).
- Avisynth (resize video).
- Ffdshow (filtre for video-play compatible VFW).
- OggEnc (WAV vers Ogg Vorbis).
- XviD (XviD compressor for convert VOB to AVI).
- VirtualDubMod which allow sound and video multiplexing.
- NSIS to create installer.
- VobSub for the extraction of subtitles from VOB files.
