The Catalan Republic has been proclaimed at least four times:
- In 1641, by Pau Claris.
- In 1873, by Estanislau Figueras as 'Catalan State'.
- In 1931, by Francesc Macià as 'Catalan Republic within Iberian Federation'.
- In 1934, by Lluís Companys as 'Catalan State within Spanish Federal Republic'.
