Native to the possible future in which Cybertron has been conquered by the evil Shokaract, Cataclysm was one of his top ranking Heralds and contender with Antagony for Herald Maximo. He is a brutal fighter who enjoys letting his opponents believe that they've got a chance at victory before he crushes them. Cataclysm is brilliant and without mercy, but has two major weaknesses: pride and a fear of transwarp travel.

Cataclysm is the brother of the Cub, a young Predacon who sought to join his brother in Shokaract's ranks. Antagony, about to depart for pre-historic Earth, arranged for the Cub to face a right of passage by confronting the Veteran, an ancient Autobot (believed to be Dinobots member Swoop) member of the resistance against Shokaract. When his brother failed, Cataclysm lost face for having backed him, and ended up wounding him to near death. In doing so, he inadvertently brought about his own downfall, as the Veteran and the Cub were later merged to form the mighty Windrazor.

Following his savage defeat of his brother, Cataclysm was ordered to replace Antagony in going back in time to secure the Dark Essence of Unicron, the source of Shokaract's power which was in danger of slipping back into the time stream and erasing Shokaract from existence. Windrazor and the rest of the resistance attacked the installation, and Windrazor knocked Cataclysm into the transwarp vortex. After a heated battle, he killed Cataclysm by blasting him through a tear in the transwarp vortex, putting him outside of time and tearing him apart.

Unfortunately, Cataclysm would return in the battle of Point Omega, where Shokaract would reassemble his molecules. Together with Antagony, he challenged Shokaract's various enemies, including the Covenant of Primus, Apelinq, the Maximals of the Beast Wars, and his own brother Windrazor. With the battle won by the opposing force, Cataclysm can be presumed to have been erased from existence.

[edit] Toys

He was intended to be released as a set, a repaint of Transmetal Cheetor from Beast Wars, but no toy was ever released for him.
