Sorry - I'm purely a content guy. I don't know a thing about the software that runs the site. - UtherSRG (talk) 20:19, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] List of Advocates
Hi Castellanet, I renamed your article "List of Advocates" to List of Housing Advocates because the original title was too broad (in my opinion). You might want to add a categor(ies) to the article, too. Herostratus 14:03, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
- I couldn't agree more. I think the "article" should be deleted. I "created" the article from a list which already had a link to this list, and didn't give much thought to it. Does it have to go to the deletion committee to delete? Castellanet 19:11, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
- Nope, there's a new prodedure for unlikely-to-be-controversial deleted where you just put {{subst:prod|reason for deletion}} at the top of the article. But it looks like somebody already took care of it, it's gone. Herostratus 22:51, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
- Please leave the Subsidized housing article alone. It is independent and warrants it's own page. If you want to merge it post a banner for discussion, my vote will be NO. Cordially Battlefield 20:09, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- I think social housing is better explained under subsidized housing, which incorporates several different versions/methods including Public Housing. Please respond at the talk page. Battlefield 20:17, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hot topic
Thanks for you comments on the heat wave. I myself suffered in Manhattan from the 3-day heat wave we had (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday). It reached 100 F and I had trouble walking outside. I had to duck into an air conditioned restaurant after walking only 7 or 8 blocks!
I'm just questioning the claim about "heat-related" (as opposed to "temperature-related" in general) deaths. Some quick googling convinces me that cold weather is just as deadly, and possibly more so.
However, I don't want to start a controversy, let alone an edit war. I'm only pointing out facts. How we write them up in the encyclopedia is of course a matter of judgment. I hope we can work together on this, though. --Uncle Ed 20:43, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RFK
Thanks for reposting your comment re the lack of rioting in Indianapolis after RFK's speech there. It's actually a very important piece of information as it shows just how highly regarded and respected he was among the black population, that they would listen to a white man at such an horrific time in their lives.Iamlondon 04:17, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:US Fed Housing Budget Chart 1976-2007.png
Thank you for uploading Image:US Fed Housing Budget Chart 1976-2007.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Jusjih 00:54, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Help desk?
Hi :). There's a Mediawiki extension called mw:Checkuser which logs the IP of every edit and account creation (Unfortunately, you need to wait him to edit after you add the extension). But if the autoblock doesn't catch him, that means he's either hopping through IPs from a single network (and you're lucky, you need to do a mw:Help:Range blocks but innocent users will be caught), or he's using Zombie computers and you're screwed. An other way to trick him would be to use the mw:Spam Blacklist which will prevent him to paste his link, or to add a captcha on new users when they add a link with mw:Extension:ConfirmEdit. I hope that helps :) -- lucasbfr ho ho ho 21:40, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Query
"Edits made by 69.140.80.92 have no citations and are not NPOV in my view. Unless source citations are added, I think they should be removed. For now, I'm going to segregate the edits to their own sections." I'm 69.140.80.92 (and I'll register and sign in today) and am wondering where my edits went and what was NPOV about them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.29.198.205 (talk) 16:45, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
