[edit] In response to the questions on your user page

You asked on your user page for advice about:

  • adding my photos to WP for appropriate articles?
These days it seems a good idea to upload pictures to Wikimedia Commons: commons:Main Page allowing images to be used on all wikimedia projects, for example wikipedias in langauages other than English. You will need another login (I use the same as for wikipedia). Referencing pictures uploaded to Commons in Wikipedia is absolutely the same as if you had uploaded to Wikipedia - there is no additional reference required in the link. When you upload images, you should state the copyright status or else they will be deleted after seven days. I use a public domain tag ({{PD-user|AYArktos}}) which is for for works released into the public domain by their creators when the creators are Wikimedia Commons users.
To place a picture into an article, you may find this page useful: Wikipedia:Extended image syntax from which I derived the following template for placing images: [[Image:BatemansBayNSW20050411c.JPG|thumb|Batemans Bay, NSW|200px|left|Looking into [[Batemans Bay, New South Wales|Batemans Bay]] from the south]] to place a picture in the Batemans Bay, New South Wales article.
  • ABS census requests are free from universities, can I help (I am at the University of Sydney a bit)
articles about places always benefit from demographic data. You may find a useful place to start to find articles with missing data is at Category:Australia geography stubs which in turn leads to listings of stub articles by State, eg Category:New South Wales geography stubs. Criteria for destubbing articles is at Category talk:Australia geography stubs, that is the criteria for removing the tag as the article is considered one that could only be improved by some research effort or a knowledgeable editor.
  • Sydney Ferries seems completely missing, is it an appropriate article/section to add?
I agree there appears to be no article on the ferries. They are briefly mentioned in the Sydney article in the transport section. You may wish to start a section in the article on Sydney Harbour (which is redirected to Port Jackson). When the section is big enough it may be appropriate to break it out into a separate article. Alternatively start a new article: the article on the Hong Kong Star Ferry service may be a useful model for you.

As an Australian Wikipedian, you may find it useful to watch the Austrlaian Wikipedians' noticeboard which can be found at WP:AWNB. Enjoy your time contributing to Wikipedia! Regards--User:AYArktos | Talk 22:25, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

Just to let you know that a stub of Sydney Ferries was created today. Regards--User:AYArktos | Talk 10:43, 3 October 2005 (UTC)
