Talk:Castle Hedingham
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I don't believe that there is any evidence for Robert Catesby, leader of the gunpowder plot, to have been a resident of Castle Hedingham. However, Mark Catesby (1682-1749), the notable natural historian, was born in the village (at the house of his uncle, Nicholas Jekyll; Catesby was actually brought up in nearby Sudbury).
I believe that there was a family connection between Robert and Mark Catesby, though not a desperately close one.
Unless evidence is provided that Robert Catesby was born in the village I shall edit this entry accordingly.
