[edit] the Ascetic or the ascetic?

I'm not sure about the page move. I lodged the article at its lower case location because of the disambiguation page. In fact, I have only seen him referred to as "Cassian." That's the problem: he's not close to the most famous Cassian, and he doesn't have a descriptor appended to him anywhere that I've seen. Therefore, the descriptor was a bit of "original research" for Wikipedia purposes. Perhaps we could have had him at Cassian of Marseilles or Cassian of Romania or Cassian the Monk or.... Because none of these has any historical, documentary currency, I used the lower case to indicate that "ascetic" was a description and not part of his name. [edit] Same as John Cassian?

I think this person already has an article at John Cassian... —benadhem (talk) 19:56, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Different guys, I thought, but you may be right. Dang. I hate duplicating articles and efforts. The OCD doesn't identify him as John Cassian at all, but the ODChristian Church suggests that the details are the same. Blast. Oh, well, anyone want to put a merge note up, in case there is anything from the OCD that's not in our existing article? Utgard Loki (talk) 17:12, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
