The Mayor of Casper is not elected by the public. The City Council apoints a mayor from it's ranks.
- The council's choice of a mayor is termed under its own rules an election. The word "election" does not in and of itself imply popular suffrage.

[edit] A few comments
As the other poster said, Casper's mayor is appointed by the city council and is not directly elected. Mr. Padget continues to be on the city council.
Pete Williams was never part of Casper's gay community. He was outed while living in Washington DC, where he served as press secretary for Dick Cheney, who oversaw purges of gay men and lesbians from the country's military. References in this article to Mr. Williams could be deleted without harming the article.
Casper is not the only city in Natrona county, although it is the largest.

[edit] Rev. Reeb?
Why is he listed here? There is no mention of this city on his page. Did he live here at one time or should his reference be removed? Zenithian 16:48, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Very long introduction
Page has a way too long introduction. Can parts of it not be put in later sub-sections? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.150.38.134 (talk) 18:19, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
