Castelfranco Emilia

Castelfranco Emilia is a town in Italy in the province of Modena, region of Emilia-Romagna. As of 2007 it has roughly 29,319 inhabitants [1] and covers an area of 102 km². The town lies 16 miles northwest of Bologna. Another town with the same name is Castelfranco Veneto near Treviso.

Castelfranco either occupies or lies near the site of the ancient Forum Gallorum, a place on the Via Aemilia between Mutina and Bologna, where in 43 B.C. Octavian and Hirtius defeated Mark Antony.
