Vítor Ilídio Castanheira Penas (born September 7, 1977 in Chaves, Portugal), also known as Castanheira, is a Portuguese footballer who currently plays for Leixões SC in the Superliga, on loan from SC Braga, as a midfielder. He joined Braga in 1996/1997 and has played there ever since.
His career in Braga has been steady, as he has always been counted on by the several coaches on the team; he was influential when Hungarian international Miklos Feher joined the club in 2000-01, providing 10 assists as Feher netted 14 goals in 26 appearances.
Castanheira was an important part of the squad that finished in fourth place in the 2005-06 Superliga, nearly missing out in the UEFA Champions League but settled in the UEFA Cup, progressing through to the last 32 round in the following season.
Castanheira served as co-captain of SC Braga during his stay at the club. In January 2008, however, he was loaned to first division promotees Leixões SC, until the end of the season.
