Casimir Code

Casimir Code (Lithuanian Kazimiero teisynas) was the legal code in the 15th century issued by Grand Duke of Lithuania and later King of Poland Casimir IV Jagiellon, with an approval of the Lithuanian Council of Lords. This act is mostly codification of the traditional customs of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It was announced in 1468.

It describes Punishments for various crimes. While it shares a number of features with contemporary Lithuanian codifications, it is also distinguished by many peculiarities, such as the absence of capital punishment.

The original document did not survive until these days, although a few copies of it from 16th and 19th centuries have survived.
